Fun Showbiz News

In show #81 (same number as one of my fave interstate highways), we look in on the wacky Lohan and Spears families, wonder if it's okay to call Bryce Dallas Howard a hottie, learn what Tom Cruise won't stop yakkin' about, and consider all the courthouse drama surrounding Michael Jackson and what we think was another music legend, in court beneath a massive, gigunda clump of poofy gray hair.

Let's Check the News

It's show #80, with updates on the finger fraud, the Runaway Bride, how many Americans are still lightin' up, a report on the safety of colouring your hair, and a shocking piece of spam offering me the opportunity to turn back the hands of time. Write and say hi, tell me where you're listening, feel free to make comments, suggestions...and, most of all, thanks for listening!

Podcasting, etc.

In show #79, we learn a new word that many terrestrial radio programmers live by as they sing "Don't Look Back." Also, I admit a mistake and make the important correction, both ABC and NBC announce they'll be doing some podcasting, while CBS remains silent, apparently wishing iy was still 1948. Kudos to some good podcasts I've discovered, and the inside scooop on listener comment lines.

Being a Good Liberal

It's show 76, where we recognize the importance of a willingness to compromise and how a proud, tried-and-true liberal feels when he seems to be goin' against the grain.

Faulty-Vee (Fox, UPN)

Mercifully, the final look at how the TV networks sell us "poo" by calling it roses as they proudly announce their fall schedules. Also, Fox makes some interesting implications about the future of reality TV, and why a big, talented star like Chris Rock would bother with a network like UPN.

Got something to say? Call the listener comment line at 315-636-4218. Thanks for listening!

Faulty-Vee (CBS, Home of Less)

Corporate media genius Less Moonbeam met the press last Wednesday to show off his new fall line-up. A man who obviously holds the viewing public in extremely high regard, we can all be sure that he'll be serving up some mighty fine shows for fall. Now I'll pause for uproarious laughter. Enjoy the show...and your week.

Faulty-Vee (ABC, WB)

Mark your calendars: execs at ABC and the WB are lining-up what they think are can't lose shows for their fall schedules. We'll run through 'em and explain why you can then tear up the calendar, forget about TV and go for a walk.

Faulty-Vee (NBC)

The networks have proudly announced their fall schedules and yours truly is on the story. In this installment, how little the folks at NBC think of us.

Note the new listener comment line number and Skype name, too. Don't be shy, say hello; I'd love to hear from you!

What's New & Cool on the Web

We peruse the Web and learn about air rage, folks seeking online health information, women's resources, the Vietnam Vets Memorial Wall, volcanoes, words, and a big day comin' up for Fido.

So What's News?

Runaway marketing action as we wonder if Georgia Jenny will capsicum to her senses, XM's doin' well ('must be my endorsement) while Sirius lags behind [with some execs who don't seem to know there's a world beyond NYC], some more vanity plates, a terrible thing to do to chocolate, and warm thoughts for one of my favourite singers. I hope you're having a good week.

Indulge Me???

Okay, I know it's not an actual edition of the show, but the enclosure is a 60-second promo that I slaved over a hot microphone all weekend to put together. I'm kinda proud of it: highlights of our recent get-togethers. If you are a podcaster, could I beg you to include it on your show? If not, maybe send the link on to friends to egg 'em on to listen?? It's about 300kb, a pretty quick download, even on dialup.

It's so silly, but I just love doing this "show" so much and have the goofy compulsion to build the audience to at least half of Dawn & Drew proportions.

Yell if there are questions. Thanks for your help...and thanks so much for listening!

Celeb Culture/Yentertainment News

Steve Martin gets an honour, Dave Chapelle wigs-out, big southern nuptials, big Long Island breasts, and the new $tar War$ flick. Ohhhhh yeah, there's no business like show business. We probably wouldn't want another one, would we?

An Assortment (Part Three)

Every girl's crazy 'bout a sharp-dressed podcaster(?), entrepreneurship, and vanity plates, too.

An Assortment (Part Two)

Lucky number 67 reports on some neighbours of mine who were helping many area guys get - uh - lucky, more on "journalist" [and niche marketer] Huffffffy and others of her ilk, and a chick with the highest IQ in the world visits town and makes us wonder.

An Assortment (Part One)

Micro$oft has another exciting, monopolistic product in the te$ting $tages, another tech company announces an upcoming way to charge for podcasts and a terrestrial broadcaster with dollar signs in his eyes is jumpin' for joy over it. Meanwhile, the co-host of a clever podcast from North Carolina loses his job because ignorant employers don't seem to understand the value of free speech and creativity.

Very Miscellaneous

Cue the Pomp and Circumstance as our thoughts turn to yacademia, a newspaper dilemma, and wondering just how much wisdom I really wanna have. Also, some finger-pointing as I issue a correction, promo some promos, and give kudos - with a bit of an ulterior motive - to Podcast Alley.

Web Sites to Check Out

The Webbbby Awards announced the other day, a study of megachurches, the Pillsbury Bake-Off, and getting the correct time. Is that a strange way to express it? How many people are in need of the incorrect time?? Enjoy!

That's Yentertainment

Primetime Live ratings soar as millions watch the Abdul-Clark exposé. Meanwhile, on the same day, probably 100 Americans actually read a newspaper. Guy Ritchie goes clothes shoppin' as his wife backs out of a charity event because she'd have to share the stage with someone who sings better. Christina Aguilera is today's coddled, out-of-touch, demanding showbiz weirdo, Tone Loc's out of the limelight but has done well for himself, Paris Hilton proves herself a spacebrain in "T.O." the other day, and ASSton Kutchie won't untie his string, but Jake Novak and Alan Ray can tie all this stuff up with some real humour for us.

Enjoy. Please drop me a note and say hello...and tell a friend about the show.

Foooood News

Yummers: a finger for dessert, nice rice, thumbs down for imitation mayonnaise, my deep thoughts on Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper, and Hansen's E20 Energy Water. Say "Bonehead Appétit" as we go gastronomic on The Mr. Nice Guy Show! Have a great day, tell a friend about the show, and please feel free to drop me a note, say hello, make suggestions, tell a story.

Media News

Clear Channel's hurtin', Infinity's trying to make a San Fran station something it can't be, and podcasting's creator, Adam Curry, hooks-up with Sirius to do a show about...podcasting. Meanwhile, on the very same channel Curry will be on, Sirius drops its corporate/ethical pants and sells ads to a company offering quite a "service." I get my first opportunity to hear the much heralded - yet undeserving - terrestrial radio "Jack" format, but all hope is not lost as XM saves the day.

Yentertainment News

70s pop duo reunites for their first tour in 30 years, the legal poop hits the fan for the Dave Matthews Band, possibly TV's original reality show [created by a former college professor, we learn] celebrates its 600th episode this weekend, "Cos" appears to be in some trouble as a list of accusers grows, and Paris Hilton spends X times most people's annual salary just to make her eyes blue. As we glance into the lovely "windows to her soul," we probably find...emptiness.
