Show Notes (Part Two)

The ego boost that comes with a logo, monetization, promotion and an urge to interview are the inward-looking topics for show 136. As usual, I need your advice and thank you again for bein' a part of it all.

Hot Summer, More Cool Web Sites

Show #134 alerts you to cooool Web sites covering the worst jobs in history ('seems like I've had many of 'em), fun career exploration for teens [so they don't make the same mistakes we have], health information for women, bitter waitresses venting, and a GLBTQ encyclopedia.

Hot Summer, Cool Web Sites

Oh man, the Web sure isn't like a library, regardless of what people tell you...but there's definitely some valuable material mixed in with all the nonsense. Today's good stuff includes a concise, easy-to-understand explanation of what Islam's all about, details on that dog recently cloned in South Korea, the Voting Rights Act up for renewal, what the US federal gov't has to say about the cigarette biz, and fun info on bus travel.

And Still More News

Show #123 highlights clever ways to deal with the infuriating, heart-wrenching scourge of domestic violence, used motorcycle sales, as well as the fun sentencing of one of the most repugnant among us.

News

A serious drought in the midwest makes the one affecting my 'social life' seem pretty insignificant, that famous 'rancher' in Crawford probably can't do the math, but what the US Census Bureau figured out could make many of his hatemongering party faithful mighty unhappy, and a new product called the Jerk-O-Meter that just cries out for punch lines galore.

Lights, Camera, Yuk (Part Two)

Big change$ at Graceland as new owners - no strangers to whoring - take over, auditions held in my neck of the woods for a dopey WB reality show, while one of the 'stars' of an ABC reality show gets arrested for vandalism; and finally, your chance to smell just like trash.

Never mind Waldo, where's Pammie? The Jackson trial's taint and, 40 years later, still harping on Marilyn.

Payola Scandal (Deux)

We take 127, a few more minutes, to wrap-up MNGS coverage of the payola hijinks and to say three important words: God bless Eliot Spitzer! BTW, much gratitude to the folks at FreePress.net for their coverage of the story.

Payola Scanda (Un)

Let's all get comfy, relax, gather 'round and ponder the sad, greedy, laughably ignorant state of radio in the USA. As the radio jingle used to say, "Wow, what a weeeeekend on The Mr. Nice Guy Showwwwwwww, nu-um-ber one-two-six!"

Random Notes & Observations

Hey, life's complicated; who could blame me for "hittin' the sauce" so much? Also, Bible class, bye-bye to the Atkins craze and Jared won't be pleased with my thoughts about the menu at Subway.
Oh yeah, it's thoughtful, deep thinkin' podcasting on show 124.

Break Time

I've tried sending this out three times and it doesn't seem like anyones getting it. ??? Let's try again because...it's break time!!

Luv That Web

Your fave reference librarian (yeah, a bit presumptuous, but I beg you to indulge me. It's so good for my self-esteeeeem) steps up to the mic and reports on cool sites. Details on a 10th planet discovered just last month, the BBC teaches us about evolution, DIY TV on how to use your tools correctly, also, what to know about herbal supplements, the best cities for singles and another librarian somewhere here on the Web bestows a great honour upon the show.
